Family Portraits
Why have a family portrait?
We all have hundreds, probably thousands, of photographs on our phones. The kids eating ice cream, the dog doing something ridiculous, Dad asleep on the sofa… but how many photos do you have where you’re all actually in them together?
That’s why I love family photography. It’s not about everyone wearing matching outfits, standing in a neat row and being told to smile. I’d much rather photograph your family as you really are — laughing, cuddling, messing about and quite possibly one child deciding they’ve had enough after five minutes.
And you don’t have to go anywhere. I think having a family session at home can be wonderful, particularly if you have a child with extra needs who feels more comfortable in familiar surroundings. Everything you might need is already there, we can take our time, have a break when needed and there’s absolutely no pressure. Plus, your home is part of your family story too.
Of course, if home isn’t your thing, we can head to the beach or your favourite park. Let the children run, get sandy, jump in puddles or do whatever it is they normally do. I’ll work around you rather than expecting you to work around me.
Because the perfect family photograph isn’t really about everyone looking at the camera.
