Confetti at weddings
My first piece of advice? Buy lots of confetti. Then, when you think you’ve bought enough, buy some more!Honestly, you can never have too much.
Personally, I love lightweight biodegradable paper confetti. It floats beautifully through the air, giving me those extra few seconds to capture the magic. Dried flower petals are lovely too, although they tend to fall a little faster. Always check what your venue allows before stocking up.
And if you really want to go for it, how about a confetti cannon? Just make sure it’s venue-approved and pointed safely upwards, not directly at the happy couple!
Now, here’s a little tip from your photographer. Throw the confetti UP, not AT the couple! We want it floating down around them, not being launched into their faces at 100 miles an hour.
And please, try not to stretch your arm right across the bride or groom’s face. As much as I appreciate your enthusiasm, a photograph of someone’s elbow isn’t quite what we’re aiming for!
Most importantly, enjoy it. Laugh, cheer, kiss, throw your hands in the air. These are the wonderfully chaotic moments I love capturing.
So remember, when it comes to confetti, more really is more.
And don’t worry about finding bits of it in your underwear three days later. That’s all part of the wedding experience!
