Getting Married at Islington Town Hall – A Little London Magic.
Sitting proudly on Upper Street, Islington Town Hall is a rather magnificent building. Inside, there’s that wonderful sense of occasion, particularly in the beautiful Council Chamber. And then there’s the grand staircase, which is just asking to be photographed!
The doors open, the newlyweds appear, and suddenly there’s a wonderful mixture of confetti, cheering, hugs and usually a guest trying to organise everybody for a photograph. That’s where you’ll find me, camera in hand, quietly watching it all unfold.
In the hustle and bustle of London. Buses, taxis, people going about their day, perhaps someone shouting congratulations. I love that contrast between such a personal occasion and the everyday life of a busy city.
Upper Street is full of lovely places to celebrate afterwards, whether it’s a relaxed lunch, a few glasses of champagne or a proper knees-up.
Having photographed weddings for over 20 years, I’ve come to realise that it’s rarely the perfectly arranged photographs that mean the most. It’s the little things. A look between two people, an unexpected hug, someone laughing so hard they forget they’re being photographed.
Those are the pictures I look for.
So, whether you’re planning a tiny wedding with just your witnesses or a larger gathering of family and friends, Islington Town Hall is a fabulous place to begin married life.
And if you’re looking for a photographer who loves the unexpected moments, doesn’t take over your day and won’t have you posing for hours, do get in touch.
